How to treat Ear infections : Natural Remedies for Dog Ear Infections

forth to the vet clinic for the same problem and the infection keeps coming back? In this short blog post, we're going to talk about what you need to  know about ear infections and how to treat them naturally.

What Causes Dog Ear Infections?

caused by food sensitivities or environmental allergies.

What Are the Signs of Ear Infections in Dogs?

your pet shaking their head excessively, scratching and digging at their ear with their paw, also be funky odors that you smell and even see  black waxy discharge or even pus coming from their ear.

What's the Natural Solution?

1. Clean the ears with natural ingredients.

There are quite a few natural options that we can use, ranging from apple cider vinegar and even aloe vera juice. One of the best homemade natural ear cleaning remedies is to take 2 cups brewed green tea cooled. Remove the tea bag 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar and 5 drops of calendula tincture put them all together and mix it. Then use a syringe to put 1-3 mils into your pet's vertical ear canal. Massage the base of the ear. You want to hear the liquid squishing around and then let  your pet shake their head and wipe out any excess discharge with a soft cloth or cotton balls. Continue that until there's no waxy debris left.

2. Trim Their Nails

Highly recommend you to trim your dog's nails short. Self-trauma can be caused by scratching an itchy ear and It can make the problem even worse. Keeping your dog's nails short can reduce the chance of ear skin damage.

3. Give a Suitable Healing Cone

Ear infections are itchy and it's a dog's natural urge to scratch their ears. Scratching relieves the itching right away, but it gets worse over time. Giving a cone will protect your dog’s ears from injury through scratching or rubbing.
If your dog doesn't like the feel of a typical plastic cone, try using our Soft Healing Cones.

4. Vet visit

Lastly, make sure you're doing all you can to figure out why the ear infection happened in the first place or else you'll fall into the vicious cycle of the ear infection. Don't forget that severe infections cannot be treated at home. These require prescription medications to treat the infection. Remember that there are other causes of ear infections, such as mites or foreign objects stuck in the ear, that do not resolve with natural remedies at home. A visit to the veterinarian is always necessary in these cases.
